Serving the Pacific Northwest with Community Vision InternationalCommunity Vision NW (CVNW) is a CVI Board approved Program overseen by CVI Associate Pastor John Werst. CVNW focuses on reaching men in the Pacific Northwest through M2M (Ministry to Men) projects such as city-wide PNW Men’s Conferences, men’s small groups (Covenant Groups), and mentoring relationships. John has both created & supported M2M projects in the Pacific Northwest, believing men who build their lives on a solid foundation of faith in Christ, who pursue character transformation through obedience and life sustaining habits, and who pursue authentic/supportive relationships with like-minded friends will become servant leaders in their marriages, homes, churches, and communities.
Your partnership, through generous donations to support John (P112JRW) or the Ministry to Men Programs (P185M2M), make the PNW Men’s Conference, Covenant Group, & Mentoring programs possible in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
John grew up in the American Midwest, where he attended the University of Missouri, majoring in Political Science, then earned a master’s degree in Public Administration. He served as Staff Director to the Governor’s Council on Productivity for several years, and program manager within the Office of Administration where he did speech writing, program development, and staff management. John then took up faith-based work in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri where he eventually became a senior leader in a local nonprofit organization.
While pursuing post-graduate studies in Chicago, John served several years as Chaplain & Life Coach for the University of Missouri football team. In 2003, John relocated to the Pacific NW where he earned his Master of Divinity from Western Seminary, Portland OR, and joined the senior leadership team of an established faith-based organization. In 2011 John contracted part-time with CVI2 to launch a broader community transformation focus, the M2M Network. John's community focus includes small and large event planning, coaching emerging leaders, and serving men through 'next step' life coaching. In 2018 John enlarged his pioneer initiative, adding a campus outreach in Portland Oregon and contracting full-time with CVI2 to do so. John continues to speak on campus and coach emerging leaders. John is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC), completing training from an International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited program. Through Community Vision NW (CVNW), John serves as a catalyst for change through speaking, consulting with leaders, life coaching, and engagement in building intentional, strategic, & cross-cultural partnerships. John and his wife Debbie currently reside in Keizer Oregon. They have 4 children and two grandchildren.
