Asia's Children Laine & Christy Johnson Laine and Christy Johnson

Laine and Christy manage a nonprofit initiative, Asias Children, registered in Washington State.

Christy holds degrees in Science and Graphics Art in Advertising, and has had specialized training in medical fields, including Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology and Social Problems. Christy’s career has included positions as Website Designer, Convalescent Home Activity Director, Neighborhood Daycare Provider, and Teacher in Thailand and Washington State. She also belonged to Toastmasters, 1988-1996.

Christy and Laine met within at Vancouver, WA, in 1996 and married in 1997. After a wait of 11 years, they await their “miracle” baby, due December 1st 2008.

Laine, born in Virginia, grew up in Clark County, WA. When just nine, Laine began to learn biblical Greek from his uncle. By 14, he believed that he would become an ‘apostle,’ and took a bi-vocational route, gaining competence in:

  • Math and general studies at California Polytechnic State University;

  • Computer application programming at New Horizons Computer Training Center;

  • B.S. computer science and engineering technology studies at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX; and

  • MBA studies at Baylor University in Waco, TX.

In training, Laine focused on strategic studies and thinking, broad management skills, information systems, network security, research, value-adding technology infrastructure, internal & external publics, communication, training, teaching and project leading.

With this background and since 1997, Laine undertook numerous, notable projects for several organizations and his family. In 2002, his technological capacities took him and Christy to Thailand to assess technological and other needs of Lisu tribal people.

To reduce family separations that lead to immorality and trafficking of children in Asia, Laine and Christy aim to develop curricula, support and training for the Lisu, and to provide aid to disaster-devastated regions. Laine, specifically, wants to set up computer training centers, to upgrade and build youth hostels, and to develop multi-media teaching and training resources in tribal languages. Christy, meanwhile, envisions developing curricula used to raise Lisu orphans in a way that will enable them to leave orphanages and hostels able to support themselves.
