Dr. Dick Stellway (P029RJS)

Dick grew up on the "black" side of a racially divided city. His desire to promote better racial and ethnic understanding influenced his university studies in sociology, psychology and religion. Dick holds three graduate degrees, including a Ph.D. in sociology. He has been privileged to study in a number of developing countries. For many years Dick's work combined university instruction and department administration with research in the U.S. and in Africa. (Dick met his wife, Janet, in the course of his work in Africa.) He has written books and articles on the role and impact of religion society.

Currently Dick works with Viva Network, an international organization that builds cooperative links between agencies working with 'children at risk.' Dick's focus is on linking and enhancing community  response to the millions of children that have been affected by HIV/AIDS. "There are currently over 13 million children living in our world today that have been orphaned by AIDS. Most of these children are poor and without a 'future' as we know it. Our concern is to assist churches and other groups in their efforts to serve these children, ministering to their body and spirit while providing them with hope for the future."
